Sedanet; the voice of thought

Our story

Sedanet, a cultural website, began its work in 2009 with a single concern: narrowing the distance between academic thought and the many-voiced Persian-speaking audience. That year a group of humanities students decided to take the recorded lectures and the texts left neglected in classrooms and libraries and place them within everyone's reach, carefully edited and precisely referenced.

Today Sedanet is an independent reference for thought in Persian; a living treasury of the talks and writings of classical and modern thinkers in philosophy, religious studies and the humanities. It is a place to dig into foundational ideas and intellectual conversations, with an independent eye on humanity's intellectual heritage in Iran and the world; from Mostafa Malekian and Arash Naraghi to John Rawls, Adam Smith and Hannah Arendt. Our audience is everyone drawn to thought: anyone who wants to read, to listen and to pause, so as to understand the world better.

Our name sums up our path: “the voice of thought”. Thought that goes unheard will stay at the margins; our mission is carrying that voice to minds eager to think.
