From Development to Democracy in Iran

About this event

The panel "From Development to Democracy in Iran," held as part of the first School of Governance and Development, addresses one of the fundamental questions in political science and development studies: Can economic development and the formation of an effective state pave the way for democracy, and to what extent is this model applicable and relevant to Iran?

In this session, Dr. Rahman Ghahremanpour, translator and researcher in international relations, will draw on the experiences of various countries to examine the relationship between development, the state, political institutions, and the paths societies take toward democracy.

This program offers students and researchers in political science, international relations, sociology, development studies, and those interested in governance issues an opportunity to become familiar with different approaches to the link between development and democracy in Iran and the world.
