Population ageing is not merely a demographic or medical issue; it is closely connected to systems of care and support, health, social policy, and social and economic security. The event “An Ageing Society: Challenges of Care, Support, and Social and Economic Security” examines these dimensions of an ageing society.
Farshad Sharifi, Mohsen Sheti, Yaser Bagheri, Majid Kousheshi, and Shiva Parvaei will discuss ageing, health, demography, and social policy from their respective areas of expertise. Majid Kousheshi will serve as the event’s coordinator and moderator.
The event is intended for researchers and students in sociology, demography, health, and social policy, as well as anyone interested in ageing and demographic change in Iran. It is jointly organised by the Sociology of Ageing Group of the Iranian Sociological Association, the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Tehran, the National Institute for Population Research, and the Population Association of Iran.
