About the book
'No Abode but This' is a sociological study of Iranian migration and the formation of a culture of migration in Iran today. In this work, Omid Asayesh and Abdolmohammad Kazemipour have sought to examine migration beyond an individual decision to leave the country, analyzing it as a social, cultural, and historical phenomenon.
The authors, utilizing semi-structured interviews, statistical data, social media data analysis, and a review of previous research, have examined the concept of the 'migration field.' Within this framework, migration is a set of attitudes, aspirations, opportunities, and constraints that influence individuals' choices and their imagination of the future.
The book introduces four main groups within this field: the migration-minded, the anti-migration, the successful migration-minded, and the returnees. This categorization allows the authors to examine the different experiences of individuals in relation to migration and its possibility or impossibility.
