Iranian society faces multiple political, economic, and cultural divisions and tensions, while the prospect of war continues to cast a shadow over its situation. Under these circumstances, one of the central questions of political philosophy is how to design a political order that ensures national security and stability while upholding the principles of justice and maintaining its legitimacy.
In this session, Dr. Hossein Houshmand draws on the thought of John Rawls, a leading contemporary political philosopher, to explore this question. Rawls’s political philosophy, with its emphasis on justice, basic liberties, and the principles governing political institutions, offers a framework for examining the relationship between political order and social justice.
The session provides an opportunity to reflect on Iran’s contemporary challenges from the perspective of political philosophy and to consider how security and stability can be reconciled with justice and political legitimacy.
The event is intended for those interested in political philosophy, political science, John Rawls’s thought, and the fundamental challenges facing Iranian society.
