The 82nd session of Iran’s City of Philosophy is dedicated to the launch of Beckett and Cioran by Steven Matthews, a work that examines the relationship between Samuel Beckett and E. M. Cioran and explores the connections between Beckett’s literary world and Cioran’s pessimistic thought.
The event features Sina Bashiri, the book’s translator, and Mohammad-Zaman Zamani Jamshidi. It offers an opportunity to become more closely acquainted with the book’s subject and intellectual background, as well as the way Beckett and Cioran are brought together in a comparative study.
The session will be of interest to readers of Beckett and Cioran and to those interested in modern literature, philosophy, philosophical pessimism, and the relationship between literature and thought. The in-person event will take place on Thursday, 16 Mehr 1405, from 16:00 to 18:00, and is open to everyone.
