Responding to Ganji, Seyyed Hadi Tabatabaei argues that the acceptance of Soroush’s theory of prophetic dreams among the community of believers is not a criterion for its truth. Drawing on the mission of the intellectual and the Shi‘i tradition of ijtihad, he deems it unworthy to conceal the truth under the pretext of preserving beliefs.
