Life and Thought
Mostafa Mehraeen (born 1974) is an Iranian sociologist, author, and translator. He is a researcher in the field of culture and thought, the founder of the 'Rokhdad-e Tazeh' (New Event) Research Institute, and has authored and translated numerous works in the sociology of knowledge and culture.
Mostafa Mehraeen, born on August 27, 1974, in Bandar-e Deyr, Bushehr Province, is a sociologist, author, translator, and researcher in the field of culture and thought. He earned his BA in English Translation from Allameh Tabataba'i University and then pursued his MA and PhD in Sociology, with a focus on culture, at Tarbiat Modares University.
Mehraeen has taught at various universities and institutions and has worked as a researcher at the Institute for Humanities and Cultural Studies. He has also collaborated in the fields of social science encyclopedia writing and cultural studies, and founded the 'Rokhdad-e Tazeh' (New Event) Research Institute.
Mehraeen's main focus is on the sociology of culture, the sociology of knowledge, the production of thought, the relationship between power and text, religious and cultural discourses, and the sociological analysis of art and media. His works demonstrate an interest in this question: How are thoughts, works of art, religious discourses, and cultural forms produced within the structures of power, history, institutions, and social life?
