Simin Daneshvar was an Iranian writer, translator, and academic, and one of the leading figures in contemporary Persian fiction. Her best-known novel, Savushun, is among the major novels of modern Iran; throughout her fiction, Daneshvar paid particular attention to women’s lives and to Iran’s social and historical transformations.
