The Lectures on the Philosophy of Art, taught by Dr. Amir Maziar, were held in eight sessions. Dr. Amir Maziar is a lecturer in the philosophy of art at the universities of Tehran, Art, and Allameh Tabataba'i, a member of the Institute for Humanities and Cultural Studies, and the author of numerous works in the field of theoretical art studies. One of the branches of the philosophies of... is the philosophy of art. The philosophy of art deals with the explanation of the quiddity of art and its theoretical and philosophical foundations. These theoretical foundations are sometimes referred to as the metaphysical foundations of art. It should be noted that in this usage, "metaphysics" is used in a general sense and is not equivalent to "theology." The most fundamental questions in the philosophy of art are: "What is art?" "What is the essential characteristic of art that is preserved and constant across all arts?" "What is the origin of art?" "What is the end and purpose of art?" "What are the instances of art?" "What are the functions of art for the artist and the audience?" "What are the uses of art?" "Can art be knowledge-producing or knowledge-enhancing or not?" It can also be said that the philosophy of art deals with the explanation of the non-artistic principles and foundations of art, or the theoretical and philosophical foundations of art.
