Life and Thought
Baba Taher Oryan is a renowned Iranian poet and mystic, probably from the 4th and 5th centuries AH, best known for his simple, poignant, and mystical quatrains (dobaytis). The language of his poetry is a mixture of archaic Persian and the dialects of western Iran, and its main themes are love, separation, suffering, restlessness, and spiritual seeking.
