Mohammad Reza Bateni (1934–2021) was an Iranian linguist, lexicographer, author, and translator. He was a pioneer in introducing modern linguistics to Iran and the author of seminal works such as *A Description of the Grammatical Structure of Persian* and contemporary bilingual dictionaries. His views on language change and his critique of prescriptive approaches left a lasting impact on linguistic and cultural discourse.
