Gholamhossein Mosahab was a prominent Iranian mathematician, logician, translator, and encyclopedist who played an important role in the development of scientific language and modern research methods in Iran. He was the founder of the Persian Encyclopedia and is regarded as one of the pioneers of modern mathematics education and mathematical logic in Iran.
Gholamhossein Mosahab was born in Tehran in 1288 in the Persian calendar. He began his education in Iran and later continued his studies in Europe, studying mathematics, logic, and related sciences at the University of Paris and the University of Cambridge before returning to Iran to teach and pursue scholarly activities.
Mosahab was among the first scholars in Iran to seriously introduce modern logic and precise mathematical methods. Alongside his academic work, he contributed significantly to the development of Persian scientific terminology and sought to provide accurate and standardized Persian terms for modern scientific concepts.
His most important work was the Persian Encyclopedia, which was launched with the cooperation of a group of researchers and is considered one of the first comprehensive modern-style encyclopedias in Persian. His works in mathematics, geometry, set theory, and mathematical logic also became important educational resources in contemporary Iran.
Gholamhossein Mosahab died in Tehran in 1358 in the Persian calendar. His scientific legacy in mathematics, Persian scientific language, and encyclopedia writing remains significant in the history of modern Iranian culture.
