Mohammad-Reza Hakimi was an Iranian religious writer and thinker and one of the leading contemporary representatives of the School of Separation, a current that emphasizes the distinction of revealed knowledge from philosophy and mysticism. Social justice, the struggle against poverty, and concern for the rights of the deprived were central to his thought, and the *al-Hayat* collection is among his most important works in this regard.
