Shina Ansari

Shina Ansari, born in 1352 in Tehran, is an Iranian environmental manager and researcher. She spent her childhood and adolescence in Amol and received her bachelor’s degree in agricultural engineering, specializing in plant protection, from Bu-Ali Sina University in 1375. In 1378, she completed a master’s degree in agricultural engineering, specializing in plant pathology, at the Science and Research Branch of Islamic Azad University in Tehran. She later earned a PhD in environmental management from the same university. Her doctoral dissertation addressed environmental strategies for managing organophosphate pesticides in rice cultivation in Mazandaran Province.

Ansari began her professional career at Iran’s Department of Environment in 1379. Her posts have included head of the environmental departments of Rey and Tehran counties, Deputy Director General of the Tehran Provincial Department of Environment, Technical Deputy Director General of the Alborz Provincial Department of Environment, and Director General of the Department of Comprehensive Pollution Monitoring. Her work has encompassed monitoring air quality and pollutants, developing accredited environmental laboratories, industrial self-reporting, and drafting environmental regulations and standards. She also contributed to the preparation of the Clean Air Law and the Soil Protection Law.

In 1398, Ansari became Director General for Environment and Sustainable Development at Tehran Municipality. On 1 Shahrivar 1403, she was appointed Vice President and Head of Iran’s Department of Environment by Masoud Pezeshkian. Air pollution, waste management, climate change, pollutant monitoring, and environmental governance are among the central themes of her work. Her publications include A Collection of Laws and Executive Regulations on Waste Management, A Collection of Environmental Pollutant Monitoring Guidelines, and Towards Green Buildings: An Approach to Sustainable Architecture.
