About the book
Saadi's Ghazals is a collection of ghazals by Saadi Shirazi, corrected and annotated through the efforts of Gholamhossein Yousefi and published by Sokhan Publications. The book begins with a brief discourse on Saadi's ghazal and the delicacy of his speech, so that instead of encountering general praise, the reader approaches Saadi's ghazals with a more analytical perspective.
The book's structure has three main parts: first, the corrected text of the ghazals, prepared using seventeen ancient manuscripts and reputable printed editions and commentaries; second, explanations related to the text, including vocabulary, compounds, terms, Quranic and hadith allusions, and historical points; and third, a description of the variant readings, ordered by the number of the ghazals and verses.
Saadi's ghazal holds a special place among his works because its clear language, gentle music, human emotion, and amorous experience are combined in a concise and effective form. Even today's reader encounters speech in these ghazals that, despite its historical age, remains alive and close to human experience.
This book is suitable for lovers of Persian poetry, literature students, researchers of classical texts, and readers who wish to read Saadi's ghazal in an authoritative edition, accompanied by clear explanations and access to textual variants.
