Yann Arthus-Bertrand's documentary *Human* draws on interviews with two thousand people from sixty countries about love, death and the meaning of life. By omitting the speakers' names and nationalities, the film focuses on what is common to the human condition.

The documentary HUMAN is a work by Yann Arthus-Bertrand, the renowned director of documentaries such as Home (2009); it was produced with investment from Google and made over three years with his 20-person team.
This documentary became the first film to be screened at the United Nations General Assembly for 1,000 viewers, including UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon. On the same day, Google dedicated 6 YouTube channels to the documentary and showed the film with subtitles in Arabic, English, French, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish. The YouTube channels also hosted three hours of behind-the-scenes footage of the film's making, including its genesis, the filming, and its music.
One of the interesting points of this documentary for us Iranians is its opening, which is adorned with a superb song by Salar Aghili and a poem by Rumi:
Arise, O day, let the particles dance! The one for whom the heavens and the air dance,
Souls, from joy, headless and footless dance, I shall whisper in your ear where they dance.
Every particle that is in the air or on the plain, look closely, for it is a lover like us.
Every particle, whether joyful or sorrowful, is bewildered by the sun of the incomparable Beloved.
The main concept of this documentary is posing 40 specific questions in face-to-face interviews with human beings—different humans with different faces, clothes, and lives, encompassing 2,000 people from 60 countries around the world—and you, the viewer, are watching beautiful segments from this vast collection of interviews.
On the Google Arts & Culture app, it states about this documentary:
"The documentary HUMAN is a collection of stories and images of our world; it is a gift that, through stories full of love and happiness, of goodness, of hatred and violence, immerses you in the question: What is the meaning of humanity?
The documentary 'Human' emerged from face-to-face encounters with other human beings and reflects the story of our everyday lives and is a report on the incredible experience of human life."(1)
In the interviews of this documentary, you see humans in a very simple and distinct setting: a black background, an identical camera frame, and without any music during the speech or any mention of the country and name of the interviewee; as if the director wants to highlight the common essence of humanity behind these differences and distinctions. Yann Arthus-Bertrand says on this matter:
"I wanted [the audience] to concentrate on everything that is shared. And if [the audience] knew the names or countries of the interviewees, they could not feel their emotion and speech with the same intensity."(2)
On this unique journey to 60 countries around the world, you will witness simple and distinct answers that emerge from fundamental questions: such as love, poverty, violence, death, the meaning of life, happiness, suffering, and more.
In the answers, you do not sense self-importance or affectation; it is as if these answers are precisely responses to your specific questions from different human beings.
Perhaps you, like me, have dreamed of traveling around the world to speak with different humans; perhaps you, like me, want to speak with distinct human beings and know the meaning of their lives so you can touch the depth of their understanding and feeling. Therefore, I bring you glad tidings that this documentary can, to some extent, bring you closer to that understanding.
A bird's-eye view of humanity, with a combination of various interviews and unique images of distinct human communities and nature with superb color grading, takes one to the depths of a contemplative gaze upon existence and humanity, and then the tears of a little girl with a dark past squeeze your heart.
Watching this documentary, one is reminded of Nikos Kazantzakis's adventure-filled and profound journeys in his book Journey to the Land of Bounan. Journeys full of mystery, full of truth. How beautifully the documentary Human portrays this journey, this short dialogue of a man with himself in the story of Truth and the Wise Man:
The man began to speak to himself: What did you see on this long journey?
- I saw the world.
- Did you not see the people?
- Yes, yes, I saw the people. Various people, each with a different thought.
- Did each not have a world of their own?
- Yes, yes, each had a world of their own, and each built a world with their own hands.
- Did you not enter their worlds?
- Yes, yes, I entered each person's world a little, and came to know each a little. I learned a little from each. I was not satisfied with any answer.
- You have grasped the truth.
- No. I have grasped nothing.
- You have grasped that your knowledge is not complete, you have grasped that knowing is possible, and perfection is possible. You encountered people, and touched their worlds. That is the truth.

The words of the first person we listen to in this documentary:
... until I came to prison
a place where there is no news of love
and I just started to understand some things
about what love really is and what it is not
and I met someone
that woman gave me the first real insight
into what love is
because she had seen my circumstances
and that I was serving a life sentence in prison
not just for ordinary murder
but for the worst murder a man can commit:
"killing a woman and child"
this woman's name was Agnes
mother and grandmother
of Patricia and Chris, the woman and child I had killed
the one who gave me the best lesson I ever got about love
because by law she should hate me
but she didn't
and over time
in all the time we were together

سلام، نسخه extended این مستند فوق العاده را که حدود ۴.۵ ساعت است می توانید در کانال یوتیوب آن ببینید. https://www.youtube.com/user/HUMANthemovie2015/featured
خطاب به نسترن گرامی، به نظر شما مشکلات سیاهان و زرد پوستان و عرب ها و لاتین ها و ... مشکلاتِ انسانی نیستند؟ چرا از سخنانِ حکیمانه و ارزشمند دو سفید پوست (خوسه موخیکا، رئیس جمهور سابق اوروگوئه و خانم نویسندهی آخر فیلم)یاد نمیکنید، همان قدر حکیمانه که آن ریش سفیدِ فرزانهی قبیله ی ظاهرا بدوی خطاب به ما میگوید!؟ قبول می کنم که فیلم آزار دهنده بوده و از ما جماعتِ شکم سیر شهریِ نفت خوارِ تقریبا مرفه و از دلنگرانی های مان (مخصوصا از دلنگرانی های تفهمِ فلسفی، عرفونیِ ایرونی، عاطفی-شخصیِ مان) اصلا سخنی نگفت. کارگردان چاره ای نداشته! چون مسائلِ بیشتر مردمان، همان هایند که دیدیم، نه آنهایی که ما جماعت درگیرشان هستیم، به همین دلیل، به نظرمان ممکن است جانبدارانه برسد! خواننده و بینندهی گرامی، هنوز سه میلیارد نفر از آدم های شبیه شما بر روی این سیاره از داشتن یک اجاقِ "چشم کور نکن وخفه نکن" محروم اند، می فهمید این یعنی چه!؟ این را پژوهش نشنال جیاگرافیک میگوید، نه من یا شما: https://www.nationalgeographic.com/photograph y/proof/2017/07/guatemala-cook-stoves/ لطفا به دختری نگاه کنید که در اثر آتش اجاق، تاآخر عمر آسیب دیده باقی خواهد ماند! ======================== متشکرم از نویسنده ی متن معرفیِ این فیلم. اطلاعات خوبی را به خواننده می دهد.
بسیار بسیار سپاسگزارم از ارائهی این اثر بزرگ، موثر و آموزنده. نسخه ای از این فیلم به مدت دو ساعت و ۱۳ دقیقه در سایت های فارسی موجوداست که هم با دوبله ی فارسی میتوان دید و هم بازیرنویس. نمی دانم که نسخه ی شما همان است یا نه. امیدوارم همان نسخه را بتوان در این جا دانلود کرد. =============== از یان آرتوس برتران، کار ارزشمندِ دیگری هم موجود است به اسم هوم (مادر زمین)که بی کلام است و میتوان آن را از یوتیوب دانلود کرد. این فیلم یکی از اولین کارهایی است که تماما بانگاه "چشم پرنده" به مردم و طبیعتِ زمین نظر انداخته است، همه از روی هوا: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ZjE9T-KQZOU با احترام و تشکر دوباره.
فوق العاده بود واقعا توصیه میکنم ببینید .... ممنون از زیرنویس حتما زیرنویسش هم دانلود کنید تا بتونید این مستند رو کامل ببینید چون قسمت هایی دوبله نشده و زبانِ اصلیِ.
تمرکز اصلی فیلم روی سیاه پوستان و البته مشکلات جامعه انسانی بود . بنظرم لازم بود که افراد روشن پوست ، مهم و پیشرفت کرده و رفاه هم در مستند دیده بشه بنابر این گذاشتن نام ( انسان ) روس مستند خلی اشتباه بود و این فیلم در برگیرنده ی تمام انسان ها نبود . بلکه فقط کارگران قصد داشتن محتوای خاص ذهنی خود را القا کند .
بسیار عالی بود. با دیدن این فیلم رسالت انسان در این دنیا مشخص میشه.
