Mostafa Malekian's Lecture at the 'Patricia Crone' Session: A Look at Her Life and Works

The 'Patricia Crone' session, part of the series on Iranian Studies and Iranologists, was held with Masoud Jafari and Mostafa Malekian as speakers.

Patricia Crone, a researcher, writer, and Orientalist, was born in Denmark in 1945. In 1977, Crone went to the University of Oxford as a lecturer in Islamic history. Also in 1990, she went to Gonville and Caius College at the University of Cambridge as an assistant in Islamic studies. At Cambridge, she taught in the field of Islamic studies from 1992 to 1994, and from 1994 to 1997 she was engaged in teaching Islamic history.

She then went to the Institute for Advanced Study at Princeton University, and in 2002 she joined the editorial board of the journal Social Evolution and History. Her works include the books Pre-Industrial Societies, A History of Islamic Political Thought, and The Nativist Prophets of Early Islamic Iran, all three of which have been translated into Persian by Masoud Jafari Jazi.
