Nasser Mahdavi's Lecture at the Ghadir Charitable Society: Wisdom, Hussein, Life

#Wisdom is a kind of growth and flourishing of the soul; it is a significant transformation that occurs within a person's nature and inner being, making their character authentic and precious.

One who steps onto the path of wisdom carries great pains in their heart that distinguish them from superficial and shallow people.

Unlike base individuals whose lives are wasted merely in pursuit of bread, fame, conflict, and deceit, the wise seek the soul, knowledge, and the betterment of the world's conditions, and the elevation of the soul and compassion for creation are the most serious pains within them.

The most important component of wisdom is, firstly, living wisely and attaining knowledge and illumination, and another important component of wisdom is singing the song of freedom and striving to live with dignity.

That is, the cultivated and the wise are inwardly brimming with the light of knowledge and the sweetness of love, and among people and outside themselves, they seek freedom and dignity.

They are entirely overflowing with a passion for life, but a wise life; a life measured by the high standard of reason and nobility; a life measured by the standard of love and devotion.

For this reason, if living with truth is not possible for them, and a free and humane life is not attainable, then they prefer death over that meaningless life, just as Imam Hussein refused to sacrifice his freedom, dignity, and rational, humane life for the price of his own survival.

It is because of all this goodness and light that Abraham, in the Holy Quran, beseeches God in anguish, saying: O God, grant me wisdom so that I may taste the flavor of life and spend my days in a way that elevates the worth of my soul; a prayer that today, we too must utter: O God, grant us #wisdom as well, so that after centuries of suppression and helplessness, we may taste the flavor of life and courageously strive for the attainment of freedom and justice.
