Ramin Jahanbegloo was the head of the Contemporary Studies department at the Cultural Research Bureau and, during his tenure, invited dozens of renowned Western intellectuals to Iran, including Jürgen Habermas, Richard Rorty, Noam Chomsky, Antonio Negri, and Edward Said. Due to his extensive educational activities in favor of dialogue between different cultures and the avoidance of violence, the United Nations Association in Spain selected Mr. Jahanbegloo as the winner of its 2009 Peace Prize. He has written 20 books in English, French, and Persian, including Beyond Violence (Har-Anand Publications, 2008), India Analysed (Oxford University Press, 2009), The Political Discourse (Oxford University Press, 2010), Civil Society and Democracy in Iran (Lexington Books, 2011), and The Gandhian Movement (Harvard University Press, 2013).
