Saeed Roustaee's film *Life and a Day*, which won nine Crystal Simorgh awards at the Fajr Film Festival, narrates an imprisonment that does not end even a day after death. This audio file features a critical review of the film by Soroush Dabbagh.
Abad va Yek Rooz (Eternity and a Day) is a 2016 film directed and written by Saeed Roustayi and produced by Saeed Malekan. Abad va Yek Rooz attracted public and critical attention during its screening and won 9 Crystal Simorghs (6 Simorghs in the main competition, 2 Simorghs — Best Film and Best Director — in the New Look section, and the Simorgh for Best Film from the Audience's Perspective) at the 34th Fajr Film Festival.
The definition of the phrase "Abad va Yek Rooz" (Eternity and a Day) is revealed in the film itself. Morteza (Peyman Maadi) explains the meaning of this judicial term as follows: "When a criminal is given a life sentence, after 15 years they can request an appeal and have their prison term reduced. But when a judge issues a sentence of eternity and a day, there is no longer any possibility of reducing the prison term. The criminal must remain in prison until one day after their death." The film has been screened in Iranian cinemas since March 16, 2016.

فیلم سیاه شجاعانه حال بهم زنی که خبر از واقعیت ایران امروز میدهد اما بازهم با تناقض شعاری تمام میشود: ادعای فیلم اینست که داخل کشور جوانان یا معتاد میشوند یا از بیکاری و فقر مریض و بیمار شوند ، پس لاجرم چاره ای جز مهاجرت و یا خودفروشی خارجی نمی ماند. اما تنها شانس خوشبختی خانواده، از رفتن منصرف میشود تا چه شود؟! که دوباره در همان فلاکت دسته جمعی بمیرند؟! شاید نتوان بر تصمیمات فردی خرده گرفت، شاید در کنار عزیزان مرگ تدریجی داشتن بهتر از مرگ تشریفاتی در غربت باشد!؟ خیلی ها هم مهاجرت کردند و سروسامانی یافتند.
