Life and Thought

Daniel Chamovitz is a molecular plant biologist and the former president of Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, best known for his popular-science book "What a Plant Knows" (2012), which turned questions about the limits of plant perception, memory, and sensation into an interdisciplinary conversation spanning biology and philosophy of mind. At Tel Aviv University he co-discovered the COP9 signalosome protein complex, later shown to play a role in animal development and human disease.
