Hossein Raghfar

Hossein Raghfar, born 1953, is an economist, poverty researcher, and faculty member of the Economics Department at Alzahra University. He is a graduate of the University of Essex in England and has devoted a significant part of his academic and research activities to the study of inequality, poverty, social welfare, and equitable income distribution.

Among Iranian economists, Raghfar is particularly known for his research and views on the roots of poverty, welfare economics, and social policies. Over the years, he has held responsibilities such as Head of the Economics Department at Alzahra University, advisor at the Social Security Organization, the Ministry of Welfare and Social Security, and the Management and Planning Organization, and has been active in projects and research institutions related to development, public welfare, and social policymaking.

His other areas of work include translating and authoring works in the fields of development economics, economic inequality, ethics and economics, and futures studies. His critical perspective on economic and social policies, especially regarding privatization, inequality, and living conditions, is a prominent feature of his academic and media presence.
