Mahdi Tadayoni

Mehdi Tadayoni, born 1980 in Tehran, is an Iranian translator, writer, and researcher in the fields of political history, ideology studies, fascism studies, totalitarianism, and liberalism. He is best known for translating works on fascism, Nazism, the Holocaust, the Weimar Republic, liberal thought, and the Austrian School.

Tadayoni is among the translators who, in recent years, have rendered a coherent body of texts on fascism and totalitarianism into Persian. He has also played a role in introducing classical liberalism and free-market economics to the Persian-speaking audience through translations of works by Ludwig von Mises.

The main focus of Tadayoni's work can be seen in three branches: first, fascism studies and the history of violent ideologies of the twentieth century; second, totalitarianism studies through the translation of Hannah Arendt and texts related to Nazi Germany and the Holocaust; third, classical liberalism and the Austrian School through the translation of works by Ludwig von Mises.

In his writings and public lectures, he has sought to separate the concept of fascism from sloganistic and everyday usage and to explain it as a historical, ideological, and political phenomenon. This approach is particularly evident in his translation and commentary on the works of Ernst Nolte and Wolfgang Wippermann.
