Mahmoud Khatami is a full professor in the Department of Philosophy at the University of Tehran, who has worked in the fields of phenomenology, philosophy of art, philosophy of mind, and Sadrian thought, and has published numerous works in Persian and English. Despite the discussions surrounding plagiarism, his lectures and writings continue to attract the attention of some philosophy enthusiasts.
Mahmoud Khatami is a full professor in the Department of Philosophy, Faculty of Literature and Humanities, University of Tehran. He has researched and taught in the fields of phenomenology, philosophy of art, philosophy of mind, aesthetics, and Sadrian thought, and has published numerous works in Persian. Among his books are The World in Heidegger's Thought, Phenomenology of Religion, Aesthetics from the Perspective of Phenomenology, Discourses on the Phenomenology of Art, Philosophy of Mind, and A Prolegomenon to a Philosophy for Iranian Art.
In 2014, allegations of extensive plagiarism in some of his English works were raised. International journals and publishers retracted several articles attributed to him due to plagiarism, and the matter was also investigated at the University of Tehran. This affair sparked widespread debate in Iranian academic circles, and in subsequent years, philosophy students at the University of Tehran protested in letters regarding the status of the case and the possibility of his return to teaching.
Despite the discussions surrounding plagiarism, the lectures and writings of this thinker are still usable, and a portion of his Persian works in the field of phenomenology and philosophy of art continue to be referenced.
