Masoud Olya, born 1975, is a translator, philosophy researcher, and faculty member in the Philosophy of Art Department at the University of Art. His research and translation work focuses on Western philosophy, phenomenology, philosophy of art, and ethics, particularly in connection with the thought of Levinas, Marcel, and Merleau-Ponty. His translation of the book The Phenomenological Movement is among the well-known Persian works in this field.
Masoud Olya was born in 1975 and has been active in the fields of philosophy, translation, and university teaching. He earned his BA in Persian Language and Literature from the University of Tehran, his MA in Philosophy from Shahid Beheshti University, and his PhD in Western Philosophy from the Iranian Institute of Philosophy. His doctoral dissertation, titled "The Condition of the Possibility of Ethics in the Thought of Levinas," was written under the supervision of Abdolkarim Rashidian.
Olya has been a faculty member in the Philosophy of Art Department at the University of Art, teaching and conducting research in areas such as philosophy of art, phenomenology, hermeneutics, ethics, and contemporary continental philosophy. A portion of his research relates to Gabriel Marcel, Emmanuel Levinas, Merleau-Ponty, and the relationship between experience, mystery, the body, perception, and ethics.
Among his important translations are The Phenomenological Movement, Phenomenology of Perception, An Introduction to the Thought of Levinas, and the translation or supervision of several Persian volumes of the Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy. He has also played a significant role in introducing and conveying discussions of phenomenology and continental philosophy into Persian.
