About this video
In this 20-session series held via Instagram Live, Hesam Salamat reads and explicates Theodor Adorno's "Introduction to Sociology," translated by Sayra Rafiei (Research Institute of Culture, Art and Communications), line by line.
In these lectures, contrary to classic, voluminous sociology texts, Adorno begins the discussion with students' real concerns about career prospects and exams, and then moves to the conceptual foundations of the discipline. He attempts to show that the objectivity of the concept of sociology is rooted in the nature of social objectivity and the abstract relationship of exchange.
This reading is an opportunity for direct acquaintance with Adorno's critical and dialectical style and for understanding the difference between the Frankfurt School's approach and mainstream sociology. The series serves as a lively and instructive resource for social science students, enthusiasts of critical theory, and those who wish to encounter one of the most important voices in twentieth-century philosophy and sociology.
