About this video
The question of "what kind of life is worth living?" is one of the most fundamental questions in philosophy and ethics. Some lives seem admirable to us, and others appear such that we wish our own lives were similar to them; but what is the criterion for this judgment?
In this conversation, Omid Keshmiri talks with Kaveh Behbahani about "The Admirable Life, the Enviable Life." The discussion addresses the basis on which the value of a life can be assessed and what relationship exists between success, virtue, satisfaction, personal choices, and the image we hold of a good life.
This topic leads us to important questions about the meaning of life and ethics: Is a good life necessarily the same as a successful or pleasurable life? What makes a person's life inspiring or praiseworthy for others? Reflecting on these questions can help us reconsider the criteria we use to evaluate our own lives and the lives of others.
