About this video
The human mind and its cognitive and moral capacities are among the most important subjects at the intersection of philosophy, cognitive science, and evolutionary biology. The question of how the mind has been formed and whether certain moral characteristics of humans can be explained based on the process of evolution remains a point of debate among philosophers and scientists.
In this Instagram conversation, Alireza Emtiaz talks with Hossein Dabbagh about "The Mechanism of the Mind and Evolutionary Ethics." The focus of the discussion is the functioning of the human mind and its relationship with the formation of moral behaviors and inclinations within the framework of evolutionary perspectives.
This subject is important because it attempts to establish a connection between the scientific explanation of the mind and philosophical questions about ethics. Examining the evolutionary origins of morality can contribute to a better understanding of human behavior, cooperation, empathy, and moral norms, without necessarily reducing the normative questions of moral philosophy to a purely biological issue.
