What does religion mean in Rumi's thought, and how should it be understood? In this lecture, Mohammad Mojtahed Shabestari examines the meaning and truth of religion by focusing on Rumi's thought.
The question of the meaning of religion is one of the fundamental issues in religious thought; what is the relationship between religion and human experience, truth, and the way of living, and how can it be understood within the context of mystical thought? Rumi is one of the most important figures in the Persian mystical tradition, and his view of religion, faith, and religious experience remains a subject of reflection and interpretation.
In this lecture titled "The Meaning of Religion from Rumi's Perspective," Mohammad Mojtahed Shabestari examines Rumi's conception of religion. The focus of the discussion is understanding the meaning of religion within the framework of Rumi's thought and paying attention to the relationship between religion, faith, and the spiritual experience of the human being.
The importance of this discussion lies in the fact that Rumi's reading of religion can open a different window for reflecting on the truth of religion and the experience of religiosity. This lecture was held as part of the "Circle of Connection" program of the Islamic Iran Nation Union Party on the nineteenth night of Ramadan in the year 1399 (2021).
