About this video
In this video, Mohammad-Mansour Hashemi addresses the question, "Why do we censor?"—a question that relates as much to power structures as it does to public culture, the fear of free speech, social relations, and our way of confronting disagreement.
The focus of the discussion is an analysis of certain dimensions of censorship: how censorship takes shape, what justifications are constructed for it, what its relationship is with power and ideology, and how it can lead to the weakening of dialogue, criticism, and the intellectual growth of society.
The significance of this lecture lies in the fact that it does not limit censorship merely to an institution or a law, but examines it in relation to social mentality, the ethics of dialogue, and the possibility of living freely. This program is suitable for those interested in freedom, politics, culture, intellectualism, and social criticism.
