Mohammad Esfandiari examined the book *Truth and Tolerance* at a Sedanet Talk and Thought session. He defines truth-seeking as prioritizing truth over expediency and politics, yet argues that in practice one must exercise tolerance so that disagreement does not descend into enmity and conflict.

The fourth session of the series of meetings on Discourse and Thought was held at the office of the Union of the People of Islamic Iran Party – Fars Regional Council, with the author of the book Truth and Tolerance, Mohammad Esfandiari, in attendance. Truth and Tolerance is a collection of articles in which truth and tolerance are first discussed, and the first two sections of the book are devoted to this. The other two sections of the book deal with social and religious studies and other concerns of the author. The present lecture pertains only to the first two sections, namely truth and tolerance.
From the book's introduction:
"Truth-seeking has but one principle: the principle of the priority of truth over all else. A truth-seeker is one who prioritizes truth over profit, fame, politics, expediency, and anything that conflicts with it. ... But as soon as we enter from the realm of theory into the domain of practice, another duty arises: we must practice tolerance. ... Now that we cannot eliminate differences, let us strive to practice tolerance and not turn difference into enmity and war."
