In his book *Iranian Populism*, Ali Sarzaeem examines Ahmadinejad's policies and argues that this period has not been properly critiqued. A book launch at the Shiraz Speech and Thought Forum explored its populist dimensions and the impact of sanctions.

The policies and approaches of the eight-year Ahmadinejad administration are the subject that Ali Sarzaeem, university professor and economic researcher, has addressed in his book *Iranian Populism*. Sarzaeem believes that despite the enormous cost imposed on Iran's economy during this period, a proper critique of the policies of that era has yet to be undertaken. In his view, the great flaw of Iranian politics is that people either become infatuated with politicians or disgusted by them. This very fact causes critiques to be marginalized and many truths to remain concealed.
In the book *Iranian Populism*, while addressing the existence of mistakes in Ahmadinejad's policies, Sarzaeem has also analyzed the populist dimensions of his administrations, some of which are intertwined with Ahmadinejad's personality traits and ideological thinking. He considers the Ahmadinejad era to be an important period in Iran's economy in several respects and believes that the consensus of conflicting countries with conflicting interests during the sanctions against Iran was a miracle that only occurred with Ahmadinejad's presence, and that the United States was able to implement the idea of sanctions instead of military war for the first time in the case of Iran.
Sarzaeem introduced one of his books, titled *Iranian Populism*, at one of the Goftar va Andisheh lecture series held in Shiraz. Kaveh Behbahani was also another speaker at this session.
