Discourse analysis, in its common usage, has been reduced to a positivist technique; Arash Heydari's lecture series seeks to offer a historicized reading of this theory and to resist its reduction to mere technique.

Discourse analysis, in its common sense, has been reduced to a kind of technique. Reducing discourse analysis to a technique and emptying it of its historicity has caused this theory and critical perspective to be emptied of its own characteristics and to serve as a positivist technique for the superficial stitching together of many texts. The following lectures attempt to offer a historicized reading of discourse analysis and stand against the idea that reduces discourse analysis to a technique.
