Lacan wove psychoanalysis together with philosophy by reconstructing Freud on the basis of Hegelian dialectic and Saussurean linguistics. These lectures examine the relationship between Lacanian psychoanalysis and philosophy, covering topics such as the unconscious, ethics, and the meaning of life.

Jacques Lacan is undoubtedly the most important psychoanalyst after Sigmund Freud. Lacan's work has profoundly and controversially transformed psychoanalysis, both as a theory of the unconscious mind and as a clinical practice. Today, more than fifty percent of the world's psychoanalysts use Lacanian methods. At the same time, Lacan's influence beyond the walls of the consulting room is unparalleled among modern psychoanalytic thinkers. Lacanian thought has now permeated disciplines such as literary and film studies, women's studies, and social theory, and is applied in diverse fields like education, legal studies, and international relations. From the perspective of literary studies, feminist and Marxist literary critics, upon discovering Lacan in the mid-1970s, breathed new life into the then nearly moribund practice of psychoanalytic criticism and returned psychoanalysis to the front lines of critical theory.
Jacques Lacan attempts to reconstruct Freud's ideas using Hegel's dialectical method and Saussure's linguistics in such a way that psychoanalysis participates and collaborates in the analysis of all spheres of human presence. Lacan has remarkably transcended the boundaries of psychoanalysis, blending it with politics, philosophy, science, and other academic disciplines.
In this series of lectures, we will examine the relationship between philosophy and psychoanalysis.
