The “Karbala According to Yazid” Series; A Production of Jomhoor TV

These days, the media outlet Jomhoor TV is releasing a video series titled “Karbala According to Yazid.” This series, featuring Mojtaba Ahmadi (a religious researcher) as an expert who has completed the decade-long “Qissat al-Ummah” study project, seeks to share the results of his sociological studies in the field of Islamic history—concerning Ashura—with the audience.

The program’s description states: “We believe that until we find a real connection to the context of historical events, we will not gain a proper understanding of the event itself and will remain trapped in the two mega-dichotomies of ‘Ashura frozen in history’ and the ‘discourse of the everyday Hussein / know the Shimar of your time.’ The production of this program in an era of theoretical distortions, the state of ‘they will leave the religion of God in droves,’ and the repetitive sermons of the state broadcasting, can lead to the religious understanding and growth of the faithful.”
