The Sustainable Iran Series

Iran is a land where social plurality and diversity have been its predominant characteristics for millennia. Peoples of various races, ethnicities, religions, and sects have come to this land and, without completely vanishing from the stage of Iran's history, have left their mark and departed.

In such a land, finding a common foundation and goal, other than the very concept of "Iran," around which Iranians, with all their differences and plurality, can gather is impossible. Any other goal or foundation we choose will result in the exclusion of a group of Iranians, the consequence of which is making the cooperation of all of them for a better future impossible.

On the other hand, the survival of Iran and its transformation into a safe haven for all Iranians is only possible through a sustainable environment and society; any instability in either of these spheres can cause instability in the other and, ultimately, in the entire ecosystem of Iran.

It is on this basis that we have named this site "Sustainable Iran"; for, in our view, it is the only goal around which Iranians, with all their beautiful plurality, can gather.

But having a noble goal is only the first step toward a better future; to reach the goal, we need a map that shows the hazards of the path ahead and, among all existing paths, indicates the most suitable one. Attaining such a map for Iran's future requires that we know the geography and history of Iran well; understand its situation; become aware of the factors that led to this situation, so that ultimately we can provide a fitting and worthy answer to the question of how to reach a better situation, or in other words, a sustainable Iran. It is for this reason that the Sustainable Iran site considers answering the following 4 fundamental questions important and essential, and deems it necessary to arrive at their answers from the perspective of thinkers who have, in some way, tried to answer one or all of these questions:

What is Iran?

What is the state of Iran?

Why is the state of Iran this way?

How can this state be improved?

Whatever our answer to the above 4 questions may be, the popularization of the knowledge derived from these answers is undoubtedly part of the solution to achieving a sustainable Iran; for this reason, we have tried to share the answers given to these questions with other Iranians in various forms.
