Amir Ehsan Karbasizadeh is an Iranian researcher and lecturer in the philosophy of science, philosophy of biology, and history of science. He received his B.Sc. in Electronic Engineering from Isfahan University of Technology, his M.A. in Philosophy of Science from Sharif University of Technology, and his Ph.D. in Philosophy from the University of Bristol, England. His research interests include the history and philosophy of science, laws of nature, philosophy of biology, and the state of science in Iran.
Amir Ehsan Karbasizadeh was born on June 1, 1975. He completed his secondary education in mathematics and physics and then studied Electronic Engineering at Isfahan University of Technology. This technical and scientific background provided a foundation for his entry into discussions of the philosophy of science and the relationship between science, knowledge, and explanation.
Karbasizadeh pursued a master's degree in Philosophy of Science at Sharif University of Technology. The title of his master's thesis was "Foundationalist Justification of Knowledge," supervised by Dr. Ayatollahi. He then went to England to continue his studies and received his Ph.D. in Philosophy from the University of Bristol.
Karbasizadeh's doctoral dissertation, titled "Laws of Nature," was written under the supervision of Alexander Bird and defended in 2006. This topic places him at the intersection of one of the central issues in the philosophy of science: the role of laws of nature in scientific explanation, how they are understood, and their relationship to necessity, causality, and the structure of the world.
Karbasizadeh's research interests include the history and philosophy of science, philosophy of biology, and science in Iran. The significance of his work lies in connecting scientific and engineering education with philosophical reflection on science, nature, biology, and the place of the institution of science in Iranian society.
