Philosophy in the Age of Philia's Decline; A Lecture by Kaveh Behbahani
This video is a lecture by Kaveh Behbahani titled "Philosophy in the Age of Philia's Decline." The discussion addresses the relationship of philosophy with friendship, dialogue, and the possibility of intellectual life in an era when human and civic bonds are weakening.
About this video
Philia in the Greek philosophical tradition means friendship, bond, and affection among humans; a concept deeply connected to philosophy, dialogue, and civic life. In this lecture, Kaveh Behbahani explores the question of what place philosophy holds in the age of Philia's decline and how it can defend the possibility of dialogue and mutual reflection.
The focus of the discussion is the relationship between philosophical thinking and human bonds. If philosophy has been accompanied from the beginning by dialogue, friendship, and the shared search for truth, the weakening of trust, empathy, and listening to the other can also threaten the very possibility of practicing philosophy.
The importance of this lecture lies in taking the question of philosophy out of a purely theoretical space and linking it to today's cultural and social situation. This video is suitable for audiences interested in philosophy, the ethics of dialogue, public culture, and the relationship between friendship and thought.
