Friedrich Wilhelm Joseph Schelling (1775–1854) was a German philosopher and one of the central figures of post-Kantian German Idealism. Through his philosophy of nature, identity philosophy, and later reflections on freedom and mythology, he bridged transcendental idealism and German Romanticism, exerting a profound influence on subsequent generations of philosophy.
