Iran's Civilizational Erosion Through Elite Migration; Mohsen Renani
In this talk, Mohsen Renani views elite migration not merely as an individual or economic issue, but as a sign of Iran's civilizational erosion. He discusses the consequences of human capital flight for development, social trust, and Iran's future.
About this video
Elite migration is usually explained through indicators such as job opportunities, income, education, and personal security; but in this lecture, Mohsen Renani analyzes it on a broader horizon and in relation to the erosion of Iran's civilizational capacities. The central question is how the departure of specialized and creative forces can reduce a society's ability to rebuild itself and overcome crises.
This lecture is part of the session "Why Don't I Migrate?" organized by the Development Intellectual Movement and the University of Tehran Faculty of Engineering Alumni Association on November 13, 2021. In this discussion, Renani addresses the relationship between migration, development, social hope, human capital, and Iran's future.
This program is significant for those interested in development, economics, Iranian sociology, and the issue of migration; because it does not see migration as merely a personal decision, but rather considers it a symptom of the institutional, psychological, and civilizational condition of Iranian society.
