Life and Thought
Seyyed Navid Kalhoroudi is a researcher in political thought and holds a PhD in political thought from the University of Tehran. His main areas of research include Iranian-Shahri political thought, social imagination, ethnic studies, national identity, and Hannah Arendt’s theories.
Seyyed Navid Kalhoroudi, born on 25 February 1996, is a researcher in the field of political thought. He completed his bachelor's and master's degrees in political science at Kharazmi University and continued his studies in the PhD program of political science and political thought at the University of Tehran.
Kalhoroudi has worked as a visiting researcher and director of research at the Center for Scientific Research and Middle East Strategic Studies, collaborating with the Intellectual Trends group at the center. He has also served as a visiting lecturer in political thought at the University of Tehran and is a permanent member of the Iranian Political Science Association.
His research interests include Iranian-Shahri political thought, ethnic studies, social imagination, the question of national identity, contemporary Iranian political thought, and Hannah Arendt’s theories. In his writings, concepts such as Iran-Shahr, ideology, imagination, nation, law, and the relationship between politics and social and ethnic crises occupy a central position.
His works include the book "Iran-Shahr, Ideology and Imagination", participation in "Ethnic and Religious Trends and Challenges in the Yearbook of National Security of the Islamic Republic of Iran", and articles such as "The Importance of Social Imagination in Politics and Its Relation to the Claim of the Imaginary Nature of the Iranian Nation", "Nation, State and Rule of Law: A Critique of Seyyed Javad Tabatabai’s Book", and "Arendt and Her Human Concerns in the Modern Age". He has also delivered lectures at conferences and academic gatherings on Iranian-Shahri political thought, the Iranian Constitutional Revolution, the concept of freedom, national identity, and politics in contemporary Iran.
