Life and Thought
Romain Rolland was a French novelist, playwright, and essayist who received the 1915 Nobel Prize in Literature. He is especially known for the monumental novel Jean-Christophe, biographies of figures such as Beethoven and Gandhi, and his steadfast defence of pacifism and humanism.
