About this video
In the first session of the series "Commentaries and Reflections on the Concepts of Ideology, Philosophy, and History," Aslan Ali Abbasi speaks with Ebrahim Sahafi about the nature of ideology and the reasons it has become a controversial concept. Ideology is one of the central concepts of modern political and social thought, used both to describe systems of thought and to critique them, and has always been a subject of dispute.
In this conversation, Sahafi explains the history and various meanings of ideology and shows why this concept has become a contentious topic in both Western and Iranian thought. The discussion of ideology's relationship with philosophy, its political functions, and the challenges of precisely defining this concept are among the main axes of this session.
This conversation offers enthusiasts of political philosophy, social thought, and the fundamental concepts of the humanities an opportunity to become acquainted with one of the most controversial concepts of the modern era and to find a foundation for a deeper understanding of the subsequent sessions in this series.
