About this video
This video is the third program in the "Mahestan" series within the "Enduring Iran" project; a series that seeks to gather the narratives of Iranian thinkers and activists about Iran. In this program, Abbas Amanat, professor of history and international studies at Yale University, is the guest of the conversation.
The program's focus is the four fundamental questions of Enduring Iran: What is Iran, what is the state of Iran, what factors have produced this state, and how can it be improved. From the perspective of a historical researcher, answering these questions requires attention to historical continuities, political ruptures, power structures, public culture, and the lived experience of Iranians.
The significance of this conversation lies in its examination of the question of Iran within a historical and civilizational horizon. This program is suitable for audiences interested in Iranian history, Iranian identity, politics, society, and the future of Iran.
