Philosophical Perspectives in Cognitive Science; Hossein Sheikh Rezaei
This lecture addresses the relationship between philosophy and cognitive science and psychology. Hossein Sheikh Rezaei examines the philosophical perspectives that influence the understanding of mind, cognition, consciousness, and the methodology of cognitive science.
About this video
Cognitive science is an interdisciplinary field that studies the mind, perception, language, consciousness, decision-making, and human behavior with the help of psychology, philosophy, neuroscience, linguistics, and artificial intelligence. This lecture demonstrates that philosophical questions are present at the foundation of this science, and without attention to them, understanding cognitive theories will be incomplete.
In this program, part of the lecture series "Philosophical Inquiries in Science and Psychology," Hossein Sheikh Rezaei addresses perspectives raised about the nature of mind, the mind-brain relationship, the place of consciousness, scientific explanation, and the methodology of cognitive research. His discussion is important for showing the link between the philosophy of science, philosophy of mind, and psychology.
This lecture is suitable for those interested in philosophy, science, psychology, and cognitive science, as it shows that cognitive science is not merely the collection of empirical data, but relies on important philosophical assumptions about humans, mind, and cognition.
