A Conversation with Dr. Gholamhossein Ebrahimi Dinani on the Programme Emza

On Friday, the 28th of Khordad, the programme "Emza" hosted the enduring figure of philosophy, Professor Gholamhossein Ebrahimi Dinani. This programme, which aired for fifty minutes on IRIB TV3, was replete with questions and topics of wisdom and philosophy. Dr. Dinani defined philosophy as "the love of knowing" and mysticism as "knowing love." Delving into the thoughts of Allameh Tabatabai and Henry Corbin from the perspective of Dr. Dinani, along with a question and answer session on the nature of the question, were among the other segments of this programme.

He was born on the 26th of Dey, 1313, in the city of Darcheh, in the village of Dinan, a dependency of Khomeyni Shahr, which is today part of Khomeyni Shahr County in Isfahan. After completing his primary education in his village, he engaged in religious studies at the Nimeh Avard Seminary in Isfahan. After completing the preliminary and intermediate levels of philosophy, he entered the Qom Seminary in 1333, where, alongside advanced studies in jurisprudence and its principles under prominent grand ayatollahs, he studied philosophy under Allameh Tabatabai. He also witnessed the philosophical discussions between Henry Corbin (French) and Allameh Tabatabai. He began his study of philosophy in Isfahan under Hakim Zia Pour and completed it at an advanced level in Qom with Allameh Tabatabai, becoming one of his special students.
