In his talk 'The Language of Science' at the Sohrevardi Foundation in Toronto, Dariush Ashouri traces the roots of his engagement with the question of language to his apprenticeship under Gholam-Hossein Mosaheb; a project that sought to transfer specialized scientific terminology from one language to another.

Dariush Ashouri: My encounter with the problem of language began when I had the opportunity to study under a unique man named Mr. Gholamhossein Mosaheb. At that time, when many scientific and philosophical schools had emerged in the West, one of the issues in the project that Mr. Mosaheb was pursuing seriously and diligently was: what should be done with this specialized vocabulary of cinema, political science, sociology, philosophy, science, and so on?
How can scientific words be brought from one language into another?
