The lectures on Philosophical Hermeneutics by Dr. Ahmad Rajabi, focusing on several fundamental concepts in Gadamer's thought and sections of the text of "Truth and Method" and their interpretation, endeavor to show how philosophical hermeneutics is constituted as a new possibility in the discussion of truth and the founding of philosophical thought, in such a way that both philosophical truth and foundation-seeking are discussed, and the claim of any total foundation in a Cartesian manner is rejected as an uncritical oversimplification. In the course of the discussions, emphasis will be placed on the point that finding the hidden necessities in Gadamer's philosophical hermeneutics, in connection with the tradition and philosophical currents that Gadamer criticizes and interprets, is aimed at overcoming subjectivism, historicism, and philosophical relativism, and Gadamer's thought has usually been understood in the opposite direction.

In these sessions, first, preliminary references will be made to the background of the formation of hermeneutic theory and especially the relation of hermeneutics to ontology in Heidegger's thought, and then, by interpreting chapters from the second part of the book Truth and Method, the discussion will focus on explaining the fundamental position of the concept of "history of effect and influence," as the most fundamental hermeneutic concept and as a substitute for the concept of "foundation," and the mode of the historical existence of truth, and its relation to other constituents of philosophical hermeneutics, especially "tradition," "language," "understanding," and "dialogue" will be examined and discussed.
