Love is not merely one person liking another; love emerges where there is "quest." When love becomes fruitful, it dominates the entirety of one's being. Those who live with indecision, who live with despair, are not "single-hearted" and hopeful; they do not find meaning in their lives. My conception is not that living meaningfully is confined to its religious and faith-based type; the kind of living that some mystics have attained is higher than a life of faith. Some mystics live at a stage higher than faith. If you conceive of love as an affliction that one inflicts upon another, such that it strips them of all will, choice, and freedom, this is not love. In love, you must conceive of it as two human beings becoming one, and all rifts being removed . . .
